Research focus:

My research is focused on the contribution of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to understand brain ageing and diagnose neurocognitive and other mental disorders. I am particularly interested in the implementation of non-invasive MRI techniques that assess brain perfusion and metabolism, as well as in functional and effective brain connectivity analyses.

Selected research projects:

  • Brain connectivity in obsessive-compulsive disorder: a functional magnetic resonance imaging study (2012–present)
  • Brain connectivity in first-episode schizophrenia: a functional magnetic resonance imaging study (2009–present)
  • Brain volume changes as a marker of anorexia nervosa severity (2009–2018)

Participation in transnational projects:

Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Dementia based on structural MRI data  (2013–2015)

Vascular Impairment of Cognition Classification Consensus Study (2011–2018)

European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Action BM1103: “Arterial Spin Labelling Initiative in Dementia (AID)” (2011–2015)

Collaboration with international research groups:

• Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, University College London, Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London, United Kingdom (2011–2016)

• Dementia Research Centre, University College London, Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London, United Kingdom (2009–2016)
